Sparkly Pink Layering

This was supposed to be the return of my Pink Wednesday posts!!! Oh well, better late than never, huh? Pink Friday is plenty of fun too.

Devotees may remember when I reviewed a BK matte pink polish for BPS, I told you I would be posting pics of the polished lashed with glitter... And here they are:

OPI I Lily Love You over BK Nail Polish matte #06

I love all the iridescent glitter in ILLY! The Good Lord knows I can't pass up a square glitter, but those mylar flakes are a bitch! I always get one or two that stick up and top coat can never tame them!!! So polish makers PLEASE stop putting ridiculously thick and relatively large mylar flakes in pretty lacquers :)

There still wasn't quite enough glitz going on so I added a cheeky layer of Ozotic!

Ozotic Beam 906 over OPI ILLY & BK matte #06

Mmmm, so shimmery and pink. I probably ought to have put the shimmer on first though, because the glitter got a little suffocated. Eh, comme si comme ca.

Did you sport pink nails this week? If so what?!!! I'm on a pink kick, myself.

The kids (well girls) at work oohh and aahh'd over this mani.

Pahlish Total Eclipse of the Heart over Barielle Satin Glow

Total Eclipse of the Heart is a pink, fuchsia, red and silver holo glitter top coat. Sorry about the black fuzz in the macro shot!!!! I've had TEotH sitting around for months now, and it just leapt out at me yesterday. I've got it over a soft, warm pink with glass fleck shimmer and I think the combo is pretty banging. The formula and application rock, absolutely no dabbing or placing required. It does need a few layers of top coat though :( This was just 1 coat of TEotH, so you can see it's pretty concentrated.

Barielle Satin Glow

Satin Glow is one of the newer Barielle shades to come out this year. It's a warm, light pink with glass fleck shimmer that looks pearly white in photos, but in person it sparkles lots of different colours under direct light. I used 3 coats because otherwise you end up with a bit of VNL, but it applied like a dream.

I'm bogged down with uni and work at the moment so this is a bit short, but I hope you're rocking some pink nails today in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and just cos it's a Wednesday!!!

Pink Wednesday: KB Shimmer Cheerleader

Ahoy-hoy ladies,

I feel the need, the need to post a Pink Wednesday. Even though I'm an hour in to Thursday.

Has anyone else noticed that I've featured an awful lot of pink polishes lately? I must be going through a girly phase!! My 'ugly' coloured lacquers haven't appealed to me at all :(

On with the PINK

KB Shimmer Cheerleader

Cheerleader is part of the Clique Collection. It's a mix of white, blue, purple and pink matte hex glitter in a pink (bordering on fuchsia) jelly base. It's certainly girlish.

While I'm not crazy about Cheerleader, it has a great formula. The glitter is well suspended (I did not even have to shake the bottle) in the thick base and it applies like a dream; reaching full coverage in 2 coats.
I needed 2 layers of top coat for optimal smoothness and shine. For these photos I used 1 cost of Aqua Daisy Glitter Gloss.

What clique were you a part of in high school? Did you have 'cliques' or were there simply 'cooler' and 'nerdier' groups of friends like at my school?

Pink Wednesday - OPI Pink Me I'm Good

It has been a very long time since I've done a pink wednesday post!!!

I searched high and low for the Ulta exlusive OPI Pink Me I'm Good. I believe it was from a holiday collection, though it's not very christmasy looking, so perhaps not?
Either way this is one awesome pink glitter!

Pink Me I'm Good - white light

Pink Me I'm Good - sunlight

Pink Me I'm Good - close up

Pink Me I'm Good is a sheer yellow toned pink (not really a jelly) filled with opalescent glitter that shines mainly orange.  On it's own, you need at least 4 coats for full coverage and by that time it's really thick. In the photos I've layered it over China Glaze Sugar High which is a slightly bluer toned pink creme. I only put 1 coat of PMIG on top for it to look so amazing! It's a bit gritty so you'll need a good top coat like Seche Vite or Nubar Diamont, then you're good to go.

I picked this up on Trade Me for NZ $14.50 which was quite a score. On Ebay I've seen it listed at US$20-25, which is a bit excessive!

Happy Pink Wednesday my lovelies.
Are you rocking a pink of your own?

Pink Wednesday

Hey ladies,

I remembered to go pink today, on my hands at least!

Fabuluxe - shade
Fabuluxe - sunlight

Fabuluxe -  sunlight

LA Splash Fabuluxe is a medium/dark pink jellyish base with silver and pink micro glitter & some sparser slightly larger pieces of dark blue glitter. The formula was great to work with and it only needed 1 coat of Seche Vite to get smooth and shiny!

I feel very girly!!!

Did you go pink today too? Don't forget to enter my giveaway - link on the sidebar!!!

Pink Wednesday

 Greetings,

I thought I'd better get in a pink post before my Wednesday was over.

This is my newest pink, Zoya Lo from the Gossip collection AKA The Hills - though who the heck is Elodie?. Zoya describes it as a "bright, warm, medium pink creme with strong coral undertones. A unique summer pink that really flatters a tan". And I agree. It has a great formula, perfect in 2 coats, no streaking. Reminds me a lot of CG Sugar High. Look how shiny the finish is! No top coat needed (though you should always wear it as a matter of course).

That's it for today.I've got a sinus infection or something so I'm tired and grumpy.

Night,
xx Michaela

Today I have Jesse's Girl Magenta to show you all.

This is one of the older formula Jesse's Girls I picked up on sale from their website for just $1.50 - quite a steal IMO.

I'm wearing 3 coats in these photos. In real life Magenta is a wee bit richer & deeper in colour & it contains little flecky silver/opal coloured specks which give it the gorgeous shimmer you can see.

For the price this is really a steal! They still have their old formula polishes available so head over to Jesse's Girl Cosmetics and take a look - shipping is flate rate $9.95 international - they also have eye shadow, lipstick etc.

On an unrelated note, I was asked what a nubbin-ectomy was. It was just me hacking off my nails below the white tip because they were breaking so low down! On my trip they decided to get a case of brittleness so I had to hack them back again. I think they are trying to tell me I'm swatching too much & need to take care of them :( A little TLC and hopefully they'll be right as rain.

Are you rocking a pink mani today too?

Pink Wednesday - OPI Pompeii Purple

Happy Pink Wednesday one and all!
I finally remembered!!!!!
It's getting late and I need to pack for my trip to Port Douglas, so I'll keep it short & sweet.

Here's OPI Pompeii Purple

Pompeii Purple, indoors with flash

Pompeii Purple, outdoors, shade

A fuchsia pink shimmer with purple flash. Very girlie - I feel a bit young when I wear this but it is so bright and cheerful, I don't mind!

'On Wednesdays We Wear Pink' - CG 108 Degrees & OPI I Lily Love You

Wahoo my first PW post

Indoors
Close Up
Flash

For this little beauty I slapped on 3 coats of 108 cos its a wee bit sheer, yeah? Then I rocked a thick layer of Lily Love. And to top it off 1 coat of SV
I don't love it, I don't hate it. If I were to turn back the clock I would have put a very thin coat of Lily on cos those opalescent flakes are kind big and in your face on some of my poor nails. With such a loud pink, subtlety in glitter would have yielded a far more pleasing result.

My language is a wee bit baffled today. It usually is anyway but I am particularly enamoured of Jane Austen this week - rereading Persuasion last night in fact. (Tidbit on the side: if you would like to read a bit of Jane but her novels seem a bit long, especially with all the confusing old english writing style-aka Pride & Prejudice- try Persuasion first because it's a bit shorter than the rest). Sol the point is half the things that come out of my mouth/out of my finger tips have a somewhat affected air to them. See?! You have to relearn word meanings when you read her, but thanks to the endnotes I don't need a dictionary to find out what such a word meant back in 1790s-1820. God I love Jane. Even when I thin what she's written seems to mean the complete opposite of my understanding, the romance and manners are so enchanting!!!
I hope I one day fall in love with a Captain Wentworth/Mr Darcy/Mr Knightly - oh Mr Knightly swoon!!!!!

Nighty night dear readers!
