Houndstooth Nail Stickers

I can't tell you how much easier it is to apply nail stickers, compared to water decals!

Born Pretty Store sent me some black houndstooth nail art stickers to review.

Cult Nails Falling Hard with Houndstooth nail stickers

Application was a breeze. You just peel them off the backing card and place on your nail. I just had to trim the ends - which I recommend before you put them on your nails. They are thicker than decals so you can't just sever the ends easily. I had to use nail scissors.

I sealed this mani with some Seche Vite.

I am disappointed that once applied, they became grey in colour... However, these stickers come in gold, blue and white too, so all is not lost. I think the gold would look hot!!!!!

Blue Floral

Born Pretty sent me these pretty blue floral decals to review.

Cult Nails Evolution with water decals

These decals come connected so you have to cut each one out individually which is a pain in the ass - but other than that, these decals are gorgeous, and make for a very fast nail art look.

I Sells Seashells on the Seashore

Back in April - when the sun was shining the **** out of Auckland, I gave myself some super beachy nails!

I used Serum No.5 Atomic Peach as a base, sponged a gradient of Different Dimensions Sign Your X On The Line for some shimmering/sparkly sand effect; then added some seashell embellishments provided for review by Born Pretty Store.

The shells come in 3mm or 5mm, gold or silver. The 5mm were definitely too big for my liking, but the 3mm are the perfect size. Beware: keep your shells away from the polish remover or it'll strip off the gold paint and they'll look very brassy!

French Tip Lace Water Decals Review

*Press Sample*

Born Pretty Store sent me some really cute water decals to review.

B132 (far right)

I chose to wear them over naked nails - which are obviously stained from prolonged polish use, sorry!

BPS Water Decals

These were so easy to use! The tips are really long (great for talon nails), so I trimmed them a lot once I stuck them on my nails. I'd recommend trimming them before you submerge them in water though, because they become very delicate and can tear easily...

I just topped the mani with one layer of Out The Door top coat and I was good to go. They last just as long as a regular mani on me and remove with ordinary polish remover.

Got a stamping plate review for you today for Born Pretty Store!

QA73 is an odd mix of lace, currency signs and full nail patterns. I love the fleur de lis-esque pattern! I stamped it on to OPI A Roll In The Hague with China Glaze Passion.

The pattern transferred just fine so I'd certainly recommend this plate to others. I hope the lace patterns transfer just as well!

The plate is only US$1.49 from Born Pretty Store. Feel free to use my 10% off coupon QHL91 the next time you buy some nail art supplies!

My last exam is tomorrow hooray, better get back to the studying!

*Press Sample*

Born Pretty Store kindly sent me some nail art supplies to review and share with all you. Today I've got one of my favourite manis ever to share with you, involving some seriously quick and easy water decals.

OPI Mod About You with water decals

These are D211 Black applied over two coats of the pastel pink Mod About You an oldie and a goodie from OPI. I have a stamping plate with this design too, but I've never been able to make the stamps look this great before!!

These decals are only US$1.43 per sheet and they last pretty well with a layer of good top coat, so I seriously recommend them. There are loads of designs to choose from and don't forget my 10% off Coupon code QHL91 next time you shop at BPS - free international shipping holla!!!

To top it off, I added some small black rhinestones too. I love the half circle on my ring finger. The middle finger looks pretty wack though!!

Only 4 more exams to go now!

Born Pretty Store Holo Polish #6 Review

*Press Sample

I love nudes/tans/beige etc, because they are always appropriate and chic.
Holos are a bit more daring because they have that prismatic sparkle, so I've really taken to buying them in nude shades in order to get my nail polish addict kicks while still being workplace safe!!!

Born Pretty Store kindly sent me #6 from their Holo Polish line for review.

Born Pretty Holo Polish #6

Holo Polish #6 is a warmish beige moderate linear holo. The orange and blue/purple prismatic effect are dominant so it's going to suit most skintones. Unfortunately it's rather sheer so I needed four thin coats for full coverage. That's not the end of the world but paying $5.59 for 6mL is a bit steep for a four coater...

There are 12 colours to choose from and heaps of swatches for each listing.

BPS sells nail art and polish etc with worldwide free shipping and the next time you purchase use my 10% off discount code QHL91

Born Pretty Store Review: Rhinestone Chain

*Press Sample

Ever feel like you need to mix it up? Move out of your comfort zone?

Well I always feel uncomfortable when it comes to nail art. Whenever I attempt anything more than a plain manicure, I'm really uncomfortable. I just lack that creative, original idea gene... I have the "I want to create something amazing and unique" gene, I just don't manage to pull it off often, if at all!!!!

I was feeling particularly adventurous when I asked to review this rhinestone chain, though. My thoughts had a real swagger to their step, and then it arrived and I was like,"WTF do I do now?"

My nails were way too short to do anything exciting, because these gems are almost 4cm in diameter. I immediately decided to break the chain apart (which was easily done with a little bending), but I couldn't fit more than three along the length of my nails and two across. In the end I broke it up in to sets of two-three and this is what I came up with:

The chain came with turquoise, blue, fluorescent orange, fluorescent coral red, fluorescent yellow and green rhinestones. I loved the baby blue and turquoise the most - they looked so gorgeous on the gold background.

I used Barielle A Bouquet For Ava on my index and middle fingernails, Orly Luxe & My Nail Graffiti's Five Golden Rings on my ring and pinkie fingernails.

These are reusable, which is awesome! One 10cm length (approx. 24 rhinestones) will cost you US$2.99.

Born Pretty Store Review - 2mm Pastel Square Studs

* Press Sample

I'm absolutely in love with coloured studs and Born Pretty Store has brought out heaps in the last couple of months. They sent me some pink and peach 2mm square studs to review and they're so cute!

Source Item #6968

I looked to other nail art bloggers for ideas for how to wear these and came up with the following look:

OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons with 2mm square studs

Sadly my camera dulled down the colour of the pastel/neon studs and played up the dirtiness of OPI DPMB :( It looked much prettier in person, only I had to move some of the studs around a bit once I placed them on the nail; so some are smeared with the polish, woops! They say practice makes perfect, so I'll get on to that and maybe I'll also sharpen the tip of my wax pencil and see if that helps me apply the studs more accurately.

I did find that nail polish remover will take the colour off the studs too, so if you are planning on reusing them, you might have to settle for a silver stud. That kind of sucks but I had already guessed that would be the case.

The 2mm were a good choice for my small nails, but they also have a 3mm size available in all the same colours. Each bag of 200/100 respectfully is $2.99. I think I'll be buying all the other shades soon!!!!

BPS offer my readers a 10% discount and they have worldwide free shipping (makes all the difference I tells ya!!!) Next time you're after nail art supplies use coupon code QHL91

Rainbows & Happiness Nail Wraps

I found some really cheap and easy to apply nails wraps!

Rainbow Nail Wraps

These are full nail stickers that stretch, file off and are easy to reshape around the cuticle once they are stuck on. I didn't do a wear test but I feel like they'd be good for 3-4 days with some top coat.

There isn't much in the way of design selection, but for $4 I'm seriously impressed. Usually I avoid wraps because they take me longer to apply than a regular manicure, but these ones went on pretty fast.

I bought these from Born Pretty Store. Next time you make a purchase feel free to use my coupon code for 10% off your order.

Lac Attack Beauxbatons Academy & a stamping fail

I took full advantage of the Harlow & Co Canada Day Sale earlier this month and bought all the red lime crime lip products!!! I also snagged one Lac Attack at the same time (was running out of funds!), Beauxbatons Academy.
There are a couple of other Harry Potter Magical Musings lacquers I want but they are always out of stock :(. I settled for just the one but hopefully I can get my hands on The Horcrux Of It... and Death Day Party too.

Lac Attack Beauxbatons Academy

Beauxbatons Academy is a white creme with blue, yellow and white matte glitter, inspired by the uniforms worn by the all female students from the french wizardry school in Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire. The formula is moderately thick but applies nicely in two coats and only required one layer of Seche Vite for a glossy finish.

I decided to try out a new stamping plate and polish I bought off Born Pretty Store too but had a pretty disappointing result.

It was one of their knock off Konad image plates and the designs weren't cut properly so I got a range of smudged/unidentifiable images... The stamping polish was decent though. I'll try again with a different stamper and polish but I think the $1 plate was probably too good to be true, tear.

Oh well, my nails still looked pretty from a distance haha!

Are you a Harry Potter geek too?
