Specialita Hits Phenomena - Air Glow

Hey guys,

Had a pleasing response to the blog sale so far, thanks! There's still heaps of polish left though, so you might want to wander over to the Blog SALE page and pick up a bargain.

Been busy today running errands, hanging with Lisa, uni and packing up posting off some polish. I only sent 4 parcels at the PO today, but I have serious respect for all the etsy sellers now! What a drawn out process, queuing and weighing and the PO lady (who was rocking a pink with black shatter mani, pretty awesome for a lady pushing 50!!) mixed something up and had to get a password from someone else and then i'd forgotten the customs forms. I'm not sure I could handle that part of an indie business! It got me out and about though, on a very warm summery day.
Christ, last night was horrendous though, talk about freezing to death! At least there was some snow in the mountains though . Otherwise, the cold isn't worth it, I'd rather pack up and head back to Auckland, warmer, wet Auckland where my puppies can keep me from freezing!

Okay, so I had to pick up the Hits Phenomena colour shifting/multichrome glitters as soon as Llarowe got them in. Silly me, didn't realise how similar all these glitter top coats on the market are and ended up buying 5, all within a couple of weeks! Still they're all a little bit different.

Hits Phenomena come in 4 different shades: After Glow, Airglow, Borealis & Moonbow (which is still on it's way).

Airglow is the only one I've photographed so far. The glitter shifts from gold-orange-purple-plum/brown.  Here is one coat over OPI Fondue of You - a plummy brown shimmer from the OPI Francais collection.

I really love how the edges of the nail are coppery while the middle is purple, it's eye catching no matter what your nails are up to!

The coverage is pretty great for one coat! Once I show you all of the Phenomena I'll do some comparisons with Pretty & Polished Wine Night Out and Picture Polish Maskerade.

Blog Sale

The sale is up.

Didn't give much time for feedback, just decided to go for it, all it cost me was my afternoon of free time - way less scary than listing everything on TradeMe!!!

You can view the sale by clicking on the Blog Sale tab or by clicking HERE

Blog Sale?

Hey guys,

I just wanted to put the feelers out, would anyone be interested in a blog sale?
I haven't had one before because basically all of my readers would require international shipping which is costly and I can only guarantee (from past experience) that packages will get through to Australia and obviously New Zealand.

I'm not sure what shipping would be like to the US, Canada or the UK but if there is sufficient interest I will certainly find out.

I'd have a few Indie polishes for sale for sure and my prices would be very fair in order to make up for any shipping expenses.

So if you are interested (especially if you are in NZ) please let me know. I could really do with a polish clean out; it's getting seriously horrendous in my bedroom!!!! No room for me, only POLISH!!!

Thanks,

Michaela

Revlon Fire Fox Suede - Swatches & Review

I was cheekily gifted Fire Fox by the lovely and gorgeous Paula, for looking after her kids one afternoon. It was very naughty of her, but the polish is seriously AMAZING and not one I would have looked at twice in-store, so I'm ever so glad!!!

I've probably had this for over 6 months, but I've never been able to get good photos before, and I've worn it 3 or 4 times - which is a LOT for someone with a billion polishes (actually it just tipped 800 :( ). It's a suede finish polish so I took photos of it with matte and glossy top coats to give you a better idea of it's finish and versatility.
So I can now present to you Fire Fox, three ways:

Fire Fox - 2 coats - white light

Fire Fox - natural finish - macro

Fire Fox - matte

Fire Fox - glossy

Fire Fox - glossy

Fire Fox is a medium red that leans more pink than orange, which might be a little confusing to tell from the photos! FF has a ton of shimmer in it, that is really brought out by a glossy top coat. It looks like crushed glitter/crystals and so, so pretty! It really looks like glowing embers!!!

Finish-wise, I like it natural but it's quite textured and chips easily without protection. I LOVE it glossy because all the shimmer is brought out and it fixes the chipping issue. But with matte top coat it's so flat and boring!! TBH though, I really only like mattifying glitters!

Thoughts?
Does anyone have Emerald City or Ruby Ribbon? I really want to get my hands on them too!

BB Couture Stick Shift

First off, I LOVE the name! Stick Shift is part of the Mechanics 101 collection from BB Couture Nail Polish for Men.  I don't know if it's supposed to be a little naughty, but I can't help but giggle like a little girl!

Stick Shift - not colour accurate

Stick Shift is a yellow of sorts, sort of with an orange tint and with beautiful pink shimmer! The first two photos are colour accurate and I included the last one to demonstrate the pink shimmer. It sort of looks white in the colour accurate photos, but it is a warm pink and so pretty. I suppose this would be considered an 'ugly' shade of lacquer, but I really adore SS!
It's really pigmented and needed 2 coats for good coverage. The formula was way better than most BB Coutures (I find them really watery), sort of a medium thickness with self-levelling abilities!

I was worried when I ordered SS that it would be too similar to Aura Angora from Barielle. Luckily it's not too mustard at all, and a lot brighter! I did a comparison for you guys below.

Stick Shift comparison to Aura Angora (on middle finger)

L-R: SS, AA, SS

You can see that AA is darker, dirtier and has a plain creme finish. Comparing them made me really miss AA, so I'm going to have to incorporate it in to a manicure soon!

Does Stick Shift tickle your fancy too?
You can find it and many more polish brands at Overall Beauty. BB Couture retails for $9.95 a bottle.
