China Glaze Grape Pop

Hey guys,

I'm off on an Australian getaway for the next 5 days so this is my last post for a wee while.

Grape Pop is also from the Up & Away Collection released last year. It's an OPI Funky Dunky dupe but a way superior formula. Opaque & wonderful to apply it is easily a 1 coater. I did do 2 here though due to my OCD habits.

Really great neutral purple - not too violet or too red, sort of just right! I consider it a 'must-have' purple creme.

After follower Morgan said that the Up & Away's have great formulas I'm going to reswatch Peachy Keen & Lemon Fizz. They may just deserve a second chance to impress!

Take care while I'm away & enjoy your weekends.

Pink Wednesday - OPI Pompeii Purple

Happy Pink Wednesday one and all!
I finally remembered!!!!!
It's getting late and I need to pack for my trip to Port Douglas, so I'll keep it short & sweet.

Here's OPI Pompeii Purple

Pompeii Purple, indoors with flash

Pompeii Purple, outdoors, shade

A fuchsia pink shimmer with purple flash. Very girlie - I feel a bit young when I wear this but it is so bright and cheerful, I don't mind!

China Glaze Sugar High - Holy Grail Pink?

I finally got my A in to G and bought some of the Up in the Air polishes in a recent Head2Toe haul. Among them was CG Sugar High.
Now I have a bit of trouble with pinks - they don't always get along with my skin-tone. I have a bit of an olivey undertone to my skin cos my mama brought the Maori!
I suit warm tones & so many pinks out there are blue based!!!! So Sugar High is a fantastic pink on me! It's a light-medium pink creme with just a hint of yellow leaning to it!!!!

Here is LOVE AT FIRST SWATCH

3 coats CG Sugar High, indoors, no flash

This was 2 coats, I think, chances are I did 3 (I need to start writing it down). But they went on easily, so it must have been a nice formula not thick or gluggy at all. I think it had that odd water paint feel to it like Peachy Keen & Lemon Fizz, but it wasn't streaky & uneven like I found those ones to be. Love the CG brush now that I'm used to its length & super spread-ability. It dries really shiny! No top coat!!!

I think this is probably a neutral pink and would look good on most people. I know I'll be wearing it lots now it's Spring & for Summer too!
I should have made this my Pink Wednesday post - silly Michaela.

What are your fav pink polishes? I'd love some recommendations on expanding my collection.

Orly Fowl Play

2 coats Fowl Play in sunlight

Ahhhhh! Finally! After coveting OPI Merry Midnight for ages I got a much cheaper and IMO a superior version (formula wise)! I had to buy a 3 pack of the Birds of a Feather Collection cos my local Farmers didn't sell these separately but it was worth it!

indoors/shade

The only difference I can see in the OPI version is that the purple is a bit more vibrant/rich (more red in it?) and I think it might have a teensy bit more flake in it but side by side no one would know it wasn't the same polish.
The flakes are like the kind you get in Nubar 2010 except they mainly appear red, they do flash the other colours but I didn't have this on for long enough to see it in lots of different lights/angles etc.

Fowl Play is super unique and special to me, really awesome, but...
I don't actually love it as much as I was expecting too :( I feel like a sinner! Seriously, I feel guilty for not being more in love. Is that strange? Haven't felt this way since I last broke up with a lovely guy cos "I just wasn't that into him"

You know what though, perhaps that's only because I didn't wear it as a full manicure and get the benefit of falling in love over hours of staring at my nails?

Anyway it really is a beautiful plummy red purple shimmer/flake-gasm. And I still think everyone has to have it in their collection, if only because it's so 1 of a kind.

Color Club Perfect Mol-ten Swatch & Review

This is a crazy unique foil from the Color Club Foiled Collection - just released in the US. This is a bit lighter than China Glaze Mistletoe kisses but the same colour green - like Christmas tinsel!!!!! I love it! All the photos tended to pick up the silver foil too much - in real life it has more of the tinsel green in it.

Fabulous formula! Maybe my best CC formula-wise. Opaque and even in 1 coat. I did 2 here though - OCD; I have to do at least 2 coats of all my polish it seems! Super fast dry time too.

My only problem with this one is that it is labelled Hot Like Lava  but according to the website that is a bright pink foil and this green is Perfect Mol-ten. I think someone stuffed up on the early release batch????

The pics were taken at the end of the 2nd day of wear and with 1 layer of Seche Vite.

Perfect Mol-ten has given me the urge to buy a few of the other colours too - Hot Like Lava & Foil Me Once. Both are pink shades & look awesome. If you missed out on OPI Swimsuit... Nailed It! or want a cheaper option there is an electric blue foil in this collection too - Cold Metal

Have you noticed how nubbiny the nails are? So much for the nubbin diaries - holidays were more important! This is how they look 1 week post nubbinectomy :( Good news is all the low down breaks have grown out enough to be gotten rid of so now it is just a waiting game. I'm alternating using Sally Hansen Nail Growth Miracle & Orly Nail Armor (bonus - stops my polish from lifting/peeling off when I use SV as my top coat; also less tip shrinkage, Hallelujah).

Hope you're all have SUPER SATURDAYS! I had brunch with an awesome girlfriend and then she showed me the house she just bought! I'm so jealous! She's living like 5 mins from me now too so I can't wait!!!! We went craft shopping & got some bits and bobs for projects. I will be spending the rest of the weekend making some headbands and a bday present for a 3 year old. She's so gorgeous!!!!
