When all these texture polishes were announced by all the big polish makers, I was so disappointed. I thought the trend was just an excuse to make glitter polishes that dried gritty without any apologies.

Fast forward a few months, I've tried a few and I'm completely SOLD on the texture manicure!
They aren't just gritty drying glitters, they do have a special formulation that allows them to have a fine grit sandpaper finish. (which comes in handy when I have a itch that won't go away, key back of nail scratch!!!!).

Here's my favourite so far:

Zoya PixieDust Godiva

 Godiva is a sand beige with silver glitter. It's got yellow undertones so I don't recommend it to women with cool skin tones, but I adore it! It does have a slightly dirty look to it, but I love nudes!!!! The silver glitter is seriously sparkly and it applied well but needed 3 thin coats for full coverage. It could easily be layered over a matching creme though. I waited until each layer was dry before I added the next and no issues with Godiva drying properly. It wears really well too; 24 hours and no chips or wear.


With top coat:

I like the glossy look too. I used two coats of Aqua Daisy Glitter Gloss and it was perfectly glassy.

Zoya released 12 Pixie Dust polishes; six muted and six brights for summer. Have you got your eyes on any of them?

Picture Polish Atomic Swatches & Review

OMG I so underrated Atomic by piCture pOlish, in collaboration with Sarah of Samarium's Swatches.

It just never looked like my kind of polish; silvery metallics don't really appeal, but pp sent me it to review and I'm so happy to be wrong!

Here's the link to Sarah's post on Atomic, explaining her inspiration etc. It came out in January with the first lot of blogger collaboration releases this year.

piCture pOlish Atomic

 Atomic is a platinum white metallic with multi-coloured shimmer and holographic shards. It really is EXPLOSIVE! The formula is flawless and covers in 2-3 thin coats. Dry time is short too.

You seriously need to try Atomic for yourself!

I have a total of seven polishes from Piper Polish Co. to show you today. Most of these are new or soon to be released by Erin, the woman behind Piper!

 

I've blogged about Piper Polish in the past, but for those of you who are new to the brand, here is a little blurb from Erin herself,

 

" I have always been obsessed with nail polish but never was able to find colors that I really loved. I would always think up things I would add or mix to make them "different". I started experimenting with my loose shadows, powders etc. and was amazed that I could actually make something that was pretty close to nail polish!!! Once I found the proper ingredients, that was it, I was hooked. In order to support my obsession, I decided to try to sell my creations. After all, I only have 10 fingers and 10 toes and my wallet is unfortunately not bottomless. Fast forward a year and here I am! A Girly Glitter: Rainbow Polish Cupcakes

I have a seriously girly polish to share with you today. It's pink and white and sparkly!



 

Rainbow Polish Cupcakes over Candeo Colors Prenses Ros

Cupcakes is a mix of pink and white matte glitters as well as pink holo glitter in a clear base. The only fault I could find, was that the lacquer base is slightly thin so there is about 5mm of excess clear sitting at the top of the bottle. I shook it quite a bit to avoid the 'dead space', or too much clear got on my brush.
I layered two coats over a semi-sheer light pink with silver holo glitter. It looks so sugary sweet!

Love you all, but I'm really busy with a case study, so leaving it short and sweet.

KK Center HK Review: Butterfly Nail Decorations

I've got some 'nail art' (and I use that term loosely) to show you today, courtesy of kkcenterhk.

These are Butterfly Shaped Black With White Nail Art Decoration by BLUESEA. A two piece set will set you back $4.00 and they are fairly large for short/natural nails, but if they are your thing, they're really neat.

As you can see, the flower artistry is shocking! I was in a rush and didn't realise dotting tool flowers actually took some practise... Now I know.
But the butterfly is quite nifty.
While the base, Delete Your Junk Male was still wet, I lightly pushed the butterfly in place. I would recommend using nail glue though, if you're looking for a more enduring manicure.

I removed the butterflies by just pulling them off my nail - because I worried the acetone would melt the plastic - and it came off easily but a small portion of the black and white print was left stuck to my nail. I'm not sure you'd be able to get repeat use out of these, for that reason.

Again, my nails are really too short and narrow for this large of a decoration, but plenty of others could pull it off.
