Romance is in the air

I had a massive destash over the last couple of weeks, managing to almost half my polish collection, sadly some of the casualties were really beautiful, but I had to be hard on myself or I'll never have room for new pretties!
This Essence sadly, didn't survive. RIP my friend.

Essence Colour & Go Time for Romance

Set in a puce sheer jelly, Time for Romance contains rose pink hex and holographic micro-glitter. I applied three coats to achieve opaque coverage.

I'll be featuring some loosely Christmas themed nail art soon, fear not, my friends!

Elevation Polish Jungfrau, The Wit & Tortoiseshell Nail Art

Two exams down, five to peoples! Since I've been busy studying I haven't been photographing my manis or swatching new polishes, so I'm emptying out my 'edited' folder! Today I've got some Elevation shades to share with you.

Elevation Polish Jungfrau

Jungfrau is a muted slate-like blue with charcoal shards and blue/green shimmer flakes. It's so uncommon and striking, yet muted and very winter/autumn appropriate. Love the name too! Jungfrau is also a two-coater.

Elevation Polish The Wit

The Wit is a navy blue jelly with blue and green square micro-glitter. GORGEOUS! I applied two medium coats for full opacity and one layer of top coat for a smooth, glassy finish.

Elevation Polish Tortoiseshell Nails

Chalkboard Nails did an amazing tortoiseshell manicure earlier this year with Elevation Tettegouche, Temperance and Cascade. I bought the set of brown jellies for this very reason!!! My attempt to follow the tutorial wasn't as successful because I used too much polish and too big splotches but it still looked pretty awesome in my opinion. It wouldn't smooth out after 3 layers of top coat though, yikes!

Press Sample

Ahahahahahahaaaaa, this is the perfect time to post KRYPTONITE with Man of Steel coming out!

I've wanted Kryptonite for sooooooooo long, since pp brought it out in collaboration with More Nail Polish; so I was super excited when it arrived with my review bootie!!!!

This green scattered holo is just friggin' gorgeous!!! Possibly one of the best executed pp collaboration shades ever????

piCture pOlish Kryptonite

Kryptonite is a deep green blue based jelly with scattered silver holo shards! It's to die for! The most beautiful formula and application, needs only two coats and is very shiny without topcoat.
Seriously, my love for K knows no bounds!!!!

You can get your own bottle and lots of other great pp's on their WEBSITE, or from one of their NETWORK partners.

Have a great weekend guys!

The Polish Well assorted swatches

Got some really pretty polishes to show you today, all made by Mich of the gorgeous nail blog, The Polish Well.
I bought a couple of Mich's creation last year and when she reopened her Etsy store a couple of months ago I made sure to pick up a collection of her new releases.

The Polish Well Lust

Lust blew me away! It's part of Mich's Seven Deadly Sins Collection. I was expecting more of a tinted glitter top coat, but after three coats it reached an opaque wine/plum jelly sandwich look. It's so rich and juicy looking and definitely lust-worthy! The formula and application were perfect. I just needed one layer of Seche Vite to smooth it out too.

The Polish Well Skinny Dipping

Skinning Dipping is possibly my favourite. It's a turquoise (yellow undertones) creme with gold and orange/copper fine flakie shimmer. Soooooo beautiful and the warmer undertones make it so wearable on me. I think this was two coats with one layer of Jordana Quick Shine top coat. I used SD as a base for THIS mani.

The Polish Well Pompadour

Pompadour is a fleshy pink speckled creme. I was actually expecting a pinker shimmer, but was still happy with this neutral hue. It is described as a "dusty rose pink with copper and taupe shimmer".  The taupe shimmer comes off looking more like speckles than shimmer, but the copper shimmer is subtle but noticeable. I needed three coats for full coverage and depth, and it is a little thick so you may want to add some thinner. I topped it off with one layer of Jordana Quick Shine.

The Polish Well Spring Kisses

Spring Kisses is a white crelly with purple flake shimmer, a sprinkling of silver holo dust and satin pastel pink hex glitter. It is so cute and perfect for Spring. I used three thin coats and there was still some VNL. The formula is moderately thick but applies nicely. I topped it off with one layer of Jordana Quick Shine top coat. And HERE'S a mani I did with SK as the base colour.

The Polish Well Tea Party

Tea Party is a purple toned taupe holo. This is another favourite of mine! Again I was expecting a more purple shade, but I loved the finished result anyway. It is described as "dusty mauve lilac" but whatevs... This had a pretty thick formula and I really had to let each coat dry completely before adding another or I'd wipe it off with each stroke, like the China Glaze OMGs; but it's a great office appropriate soft holo so I don't care! I used Seche Vite on top of three thin coats of TP.

So I love every single one of these The Polish Well lacquers. The etsy shop opens the first and last 3 days of each month, so the next restock is about 3 weeks away, mark it in your diaries so you don't forget!!!! They offer international shipping and are based in Singapore.

Which one is your favourite? Do you follow The Polish Well's blog?

Takko Lacquer Winter Collection 2012

Hello my lovelies,

I'm enjoying cuddles in bed with two furry white boys! They're keeping me warm in lieu of an actual human male on this rainy Sunday! The downside? They don't understand the whole personal 'bubble' boundary thing. Buster is tucked up leaning on my right side and Charlie is in my lap with his head resting on my right arm and he refuses to move it!!! Typing isn't the easiest and my arms starting to go numb, but his real mummy (my mum) is away for a whole month so I feel bad for him. Damn my feminine need to indulge him!!

I have been meaning to post these Takko Lacquers since January! Sheryl released these in November/December (I think) last year.

Takko Lacquer Va-Va-Voom

Va-Va-Voom is a russet red - orange duochrome with a soft scattered holographic sparkle. It photographs a little more orange than it is, but it i definitely not a red red! The application and formula was great, I needed just two coats for full coverage. I'm not sure I'm sold on the colour though...

Takko Lacquer We're All Mad Here

We're All Mad Here is a deep royal blue jelly with ultra fine red shimmer (it might actually be red-green colour morphing powder) that glows, and blue/green/aqua flakies that sparkle like fish in the sea!!!
It's gobsmackingly beautiful, with a dream application. My tips were visible in the photos but not in person, after 2 coats.

I loved how amazing the red shimmer looked with the blue, so I added a flakie with red on top of WAMH

Finger Paints Asylum over Takko Lacquer WAMH

Holy S*** it looks even more incredible with Asylum on top, right?!!! I love love love the red/pink flakes it introduces :)

Takko has its own website now and is restocking on May 22, so mark your calendars now.
There are a couple of links to international distributors on the shop site too.

Are you as mesmerized by WAMH as me?
Tell me in the comments!
