Red & Gold: KKCentreHK 4mm square gold stud review

Press Sample

Ok, what do you do when an adorable little, white, soft and clean smelling dog is sprawled out on your bed sleeping at 10:30pm? I don't want him to spend the night on my bed because he was hell to crate train and I can't play favourites while the other dog is in his crate all night! But I don't want to wake him up, put him on the cold wet grass outside for a pee and then shove him in his cold crate!
How hard is it for parents to be consistent with their kids?!!

Ooohhh, looks like he's stretching, now's my chance!

I'm back, poor Charlie's in bed. He gave me his puppy eye look, followed by his withering stare. Boy knows how to make me feel both guilty and anxious!!!

Today I've got a review of some square studs from KKCenterHK. I did some really basic nail art (hangs head in shame) because I couldn't think of anything else to do. They look great on the sparkly, red Chyna.

KKCenterHk 4mm square gold studs Zoya Chyna

These studs are great. Only, they're too big for my nails. Why aren't my nail beds wider?????
I could probably manage a 3mm stud but 4mm is just too wide for every nail besides my thumb. The curve of my nails = sharp edges don't make contact with my nail and end up as a hazard. I was scared they'd catch on something and be pulled off my nails.

Of course, if your nails are a bit bigger than mine (and some length would help too), you'll be able to rock these. The gold is very yellow so it'll pop with darker skin tones - I might need to break these out next summer!!!
You get a decent amount for US$5.28 (approx. 50 studs).

KKCenterHK have kindly offered my readers a 10% discount coupon valid through to January 2014.

The discount code and link is always on my left hand sidebar too.

Have you bought any nail art supplies lately? Where do you usually buy from and what goodies are you using to create kick ass manicures?

Sation Holiday Golightly & Feliz Navi-doll

Sation has been putting out some amazing lacquers since they rebranded last year.
I loved a couple of their Holiday Golightly 2012 Collection lacquers, but it took me some time to lay my hands on them. Let me tell you, they were well worth the wait!

 Sation Feliz Navi-doll

Feliz Navi-doll is a super cute name and a semi-sheer white with silvery-white glass fleck shimmer. This is three thin coats. There's still some VNL going on, but it looks fine to me; semi-sheers are really growing on me at the moment! It can also be used as a layering polish, but I haven't tried that myself.

Sation Holiday Golightly

Holiday Golightly is the namesake of the collection. It is a Tiffany blue with white glass fleck shimmer. Compared to the other Tiffany blues around, HG is a wee bit muted, but all the more flattering for it. I adore the glass fleck!!! This is also 3 thin coats.

In my experience, the formula of Sation lacquers sits on the thicker side of the spectrum. And it's awesome! I never get cuticle flooding and combined with their flat, semi-wide brushes, allows for amazing application control. I didn't do any cuticle clean up for these swatches (and I always have to!!!), and as you can see there are only one or two slip ups, a good scrub could sort out.

Do you like it when cosmetic companies rebrand/revamp their lines?
Let me know in the comments!

Takko Lacquer Winter Collection 2012

Hello my lovelies,

I'm enjoying cuddles in bed with two furry white boys! They're keeping me warm in lieu of an actual human male on this rainy Sunday! The downside? They don't understand the whole personal 'bubble' boundary thing. Buster is tucked up leaning on my right side and Charlie is in my lap with his head resting on my right arm and he refuses to move it!!! Typing isn't the easiest and my arms starting to go numb, but his real mummy (my mum) is away for a whole month so I feel bad for him. Damn my feminine need to indulge him!!

I have been meaning to post these Takko Lacquers since January! Sheryl released these in November/December (I think) last year.

Takko Lacquer Va-Va-Voom

Va-Va-Voom is a russet red - orange duochrome with a soft scattered holographic sparkle. It photographs a little more orange than it is, but it i definitely not a red red! The application and formula was great, I needed just two coats for full coverage. I'm not sure I'm sold on the colour though...

Takko Lacquer We're All Mad Here

We're All Mad Here is a deep royal blue jelly with ultra fine red shimmer (it might actually be red-green colour morphing powder) that glows, and blue/green/aqua flakies that sparkle like fish in the sea!!!
It's gobsmackingly beautiful, with a dream application. My tips were visible in the photos but not in person, after 2 coats.

I loved how amazing the red shimmer looked with the blue, so I added a flakie with red on top of WAMH

Finger Paints Asylum over Takko Lacquer WAMH

Holy S*** it looks even more incredible with Asylum on top, right?!!! I love love love the red/pink flakes it introduces :)

Takko has its own website now and is restocking on May 22, so mark your calendars now.
There are a couple of links to international distributors on the shop site too.

Are you as mesmerized by WAMH as me?
Tell me in the comments!
