Born Pretty Store Review: Rhinestone Chain

Ever feel like you need to mix it up? Move out of your comfort zone?

Well I always feel uncomfortable when it comes to nail art. Whenever I attempt anything more than a plain manicure, I'm really uncomfortable. I just lack that creative, original idea gene... I have the "I want to create something amazing and unique" gene, I just don't manage to pull it off often, if at all!!!!

I was feeling particularly adventurous when I asked to review this rhinestone chain, though. My thoughts had a real swagger to their step, and then it arrived and I was like,"WTF do I do now?"

My nails were way too short to do anything exciting, because these gems are almost 4cm in diameter. I immediately decided to break the chain apart (which was easily done with a little bending), but I couldn't fit more than three along the length of my nails and two across. In the end I broke it up in to sets of two-three and this is what I came up with:

The chain came with turquoise, blue, fluorescent orange, fluorescent coral red, fluorescent yellow and green rhinestones. I loved the baby blue and turquoise the most - they looked so gorgeous on the gold background.

I used Barielle A Bouquet For Ava on my index and middle fingernails, Orly Luxe & My Nail Graffiti's Five Golden Rings on my ring and pinkie fingernails.

These are reusable, which is awesome! One 10cm length (approx. 24 rhinestones) will cost you US$2.99.

NPA Loves Candy Lacquer #2

TGIF!

I'm back with Part II of my Candy Lacquer swatches. Yesterday I showed you Candy Girl, Barbie Girl and Princess Celestia. Today I have Razzle Dazzle, Snow Bunny & Summer Circus for you:

Candy Lacquer Razzle Dazzle over OPI Lucky Lucky Lavender

Razzle Dazzle is a serious mix of satin/matte glitters. Pastel purple, blue and green; neon pink & blue, coral red and lime... Surprisingly it works pretty well with the large hexes, squares, stars, hearts, diamonds, butterflies and flowers. I paired 1+ coats with a lilac toned pastel pink creme and used 1 layer of Glitter Gloss to smooth it.

Candy Lacquer Snow Bunny  over Orly Pretty Ugly

Snow Bunny has been around for months and I can't tell you how often I've added it to my cart! Now it is finally mine and does not disappoint in the slightest!!!!! It's the perfect mix of small square and hex glitter in white satin and blue and purple holo; as well as fine iridescent glitters. The sparkle is awesome and it's nice to see Candy Lacquer can make great regular glitter top coats too. I layered 1 coat over Pretty Ugly with 1 coat of Seche Vite.

Candy Lacquer Summer Circus over China Glaze Peachy Keen

Summer Circus is a really festive mix of bright pastel hexes in baby pink, medium pink, yellow, lemon, lilac, orange and green. It's bloody packed with glitter so one coat was plenty and I didn't need to do any glitter placement! The pieces of glitter are thick so I needed two layers of Glitter Gloss plus some Seche Vite for a glassy finish. In the photos above I only had on 1 coat of GG. It looks like a sherbet mani!!!

Candy Lacquer is available online for $8.50/15mL bottle.

Do not forget to enter my Giveaway for the chance to win a $20 Harlow & Co voucher. Ends in 21 hours!!!!

Pretty Serious Twinkling Lights

Back from the unplanned hiatus. Been uninspired and sick and it's really taken a kick in the lady parts to get back in to this!
What have all my wonderful readers been up to?!

BTW not sure I announced the winner of the Born Pretty Store $20 voucher giveaway, but the lady in question was notified and received her voucher from BPS a week or so ago. Congratulations, and better luck next time to everyone who entered.

Today I bring you a pretty glitter from Pretty Serious Cosmetics (pretty fitting, no? ok I'll stop now).

Pretty Serious Twinkling Lights over Orly High On Hope

Twinkling Lights is a glitter topper consisting of small copper/bronze and ultra-fine navy blue glitter. It's very simple and yet it's bloody great. The consistency is perfect and the ratio of copper to blue is spot on too. I layered two thin coats over High On Hope and I'm loving the pink shimmer that glows on through!! The glitter lays very flat too so you'll only need one layer of top coat (I think I used Jordana Quick Shine).

Sadly it's sold out on the website but I'm sure it'll be restocked in the not so distant future.

Bye for now,

Orly High On Hope is magical!

My first week of clinic is over! And it wasn't quite as frightening as I thought it'd be. I've already fallen in love with a couple of strays that were brought in (a wee wittle puppy, and a teeny kitten that my classmate adopted!!). It's so hard not being able to take them home!
Can't wait for next week when I go back again and get to do more handling!!!

So I love, love, LOVE High On Hope from Orly's Hope & Freedom Fest Collection for Spring 2013!

It's Orly Cosmic FX Space Cadet meets a teal leaning navy crème = AMAZEBALLS

Orly High On Hope

High On Hope is slightly teal leaning navy with pink to green multi-chrome flake shimmer! One of my favourite finishes!!! Application was pretty decent too, I only needed two coats thought they were a little thick. I got a few bubbles/bumps on my middle and index fingernails but I'm not sure if that was my base coat, my application or the polish's fault.

Aaaahhhhh, I love that fuchsia sparkle!!!!!!!! I wasn't expecting Orly to rock out such a gorgeous colour but I have to say from their last few collections there has been one lone stand out shade for me. And this time it's High on Hope.

I just picked up Elation Generation yesterday and it's also pretty special :) I'm sad about the rebranding they've done though :( Luckily my bottles are the old style but I'm not looking forward to the change over, I hate it when my polish labels don't match!!!!

What are your thoughts?
