Get To Know Me... TAG

Abbie from Abbie Nail  nominated me for the Get To Know Me tag.
Thank you Abbie, it's nice to get to know you a little better and hopefully vice versa!

The rules
1. Each person must post 11 things about themselves on their blog.

2. Answer the questions the tagger has set for you and write 11 questions for the people you have tagged to answer.

3. Choose 11 people and link them to your tag and let them know.

4. No tag backs.

1. Where would you love to go on holiday (vacation)?
Eastern Europe - especially the Balkans - because I've taken so many History papers that have covered the 20th Century craziness that went on in that part of the world and I really want to see those countries for myself! Sweden (because the Henning Mankel & Stieg Larsson books/tv & film adaptations made me fall in love with all things Se-ved-ish!). I want to go to so many other places too: Spain, Portugal, Northern Africa, back to France, Italy, back to Germany, UK & Ireland (I dream of marrying a rugged Scot, the accents are sickingly sexy to me - Gerard Butler, anyone?), South America, Yellowstone Park (Wyoming & Montana), Washington State, The Black Hills, New England, Alaska, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Montreal. The list goes on. I pretty much want to go everywhere I've read about or that's looked interesting on film & tv!

2. What's your favourite food?
That's hard!!! I'm quite fond of South East Asian & Japanese cuisine. I really enjoy Thai and can eat a lot of Yum Neua & Tom Yum!!! It just depends what mood I'm in or what time of the year, taste bud-wise. In winter especially pasta is a big fav!!!

3. Do you prefer the book or the film that's made from the book?
Ultimately I have to go with BOOK IS BEST. If I've read the book first, the film always lets me down. However, I've loved some movies so much that I've ended up reading the book versions so it's a bit of a trade off. The only mini series that is equally or actually better than book is the BBC adaptation of Pride & Prejudice. I could watch it on loop for the rest of my life. The casting of all the main characters is UNBELIEVABLY SPOT ON!!! And so much of the dialogue is true to the book.

4. What is your favourite tv programme, if you watch tv that is!
Another tough one! I like so many, usually for particular characters(or actors) or one central relationship (it's always the Will They/Won't They ones that hook me, or more the 'When the hell are they finally gonna do the dirty and become a real couple?!' relationships) rather than the show as a whole. Like I love Castle for Richard Castle's character & the way Nathan Fillion plays him & for the Beckett/Castle romance. I love The Mentalist for Simon Baker cos he's such a good actor! I used to love The Guardian because of how committed he was to playing that ridiculously emotionally stunted asshole!
Comedy wise It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is one of my favs at the moment. And I really liked the first season of Awkward.
I love BBC police procedurals too. Right now that's Scott & Bailey. Oh and I love Downtown Abbey if we're talking UK shows!

5. What is the one nail polish you would love to own if money was no object/ you could time travel and get it before it was sold out/discontinued?
I really want the whole RBL Tudor Wives collection. It guts me that I didn't know about the brand when it was still available on their website.

6. Who is your favourite Doctor (Doctor who obviously ;))?
Have never watched it. The ads have always creeped/weirded me out. (Not in an 'i'm scared') Especially the latest Dr Who actor. He's just weird looking! My mum grew up with it though...

7. Do you prefer Summer or Winter?
Depends where I'm living. I'm more of a Spring/Autumn girl. Do not enjoy extremes!!! I like light layers!

8. Do you have a favourite place in the world?
Of course, the house and land we lived on from when I was 18 moths old, until my parents sold it a couple of years ago :(. I just loved walking around the gardens - mum slowly converted most of the paddocks into garden and it was just wonderful. Now my favourite place is wherever my mum and/or dogs are!

9. Can you do any accents, even bad British is okay ;)
I do an Irish accent that always morphs into Jamaican and vice versa. No matter how hard I try, it always mixes!!! I can do extremely short stints of German, unidentifiable Eastern European/Russian, US, South African & Australian too. More like a few words or phrases rather than actually sustaining a conversation in them!!

10. Do you know what a Chav is?
I always thought it was like the type of UK teen who lived on a housing estate/or was from a really working class background and had a dick head personality, wanna be gangsta type. I'm sure there's a lot more to it though. I only ever hear it when I watch UK tv shows.

 11. What is your favourite smell that isn't a perfume?
Fragrant roses!!! And baking, mmmm...

Whew, that is a lot of info. Are you getting the idea that I talk a lot and very quickly? Because I do. If I haven't been around my friends for a while the first time I see them, I end up with a very dry throat from yapping away non-stop. Most have learnt to either understand my super speedy English or just nod along and hope I'm not saying anything important!

I do not know who I'm going to tag yet, but I'll update this when I get a spare moment.

  1. I love these posts - they're so fun to read. And Yellowstone is amazing! I've been three times in the summer and once in the winter - absolutely breathtaking! And the puppies are too cute. I saw the first pic and thought "Puppy!" then "ooh nail polish in the background" haha I'm such a polish stalker.

    1. Oh man I am jealous! I have to see a Wild Bison before I die!!! I so want to go in the autumn because my parents have a book on yellowstone and all the photos show the gorgeous orange/red/yellow trees - breathtaking! Haha the polishes in the background are the small amount I brought on easter break with me. First thing I did when I got home was unpack them to make sure they hadn't leaked on the flight! But I forgot to bring all the supplies I need for the easter manis I had planned, doh!

  2. Hope I'm not forgetting anything I want to comment on...Dogs: adorable!!! Gerard Butler--so so hot! Do get to Prince Edward Island! My parents retired there, and it is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Oh yeah! Love Castle!!! Fantastic show. Fun fact: Nathan Fillion is from my home city. My cousin went to drama class with him in high school.

  3. I love reading tag posts. And I totally agree with you that the BBC's Pride and Prejudice is as good as the book.
And lastly, thanks for tagging me. :)
