31 Day Challenge: Day 7 - BLACK & WHITE

Go the ALL BLACKS!

The black and white theme fell perfectly on the Rugby World Cup Semi-Final game of NZ vs Australia.

The 2nd half just started and I'm very nervous!!!

This was all freehand because I wasn't really in the mood - I think after a week of mandated manis you get a bit tired of it! I did use a nail art striper for the silver fern (which looks like arse!!!), but the all the tips and numbers were just me using the OPI prowide brush - hence the messiness but fat figs if I care. My other hand was just plain black cos I didn't get round to decorating it.

The concept was the back of the All Black jerseys. I chose my favourite player's numbers:

Base: 2 coats OPI Black Onyx
Tips & Numbers: OPI Alpine Snow
Accent: 3 coats Nubar Knight's Armor
Silver Fern: White 2 way nail art pen

My fav men are:
#10 - Aaron Cruden - I was annoyed he didn't make the initial squad so when he was called up I got a bit excited - he's a pocket rocket!
#9 - Piri Weepu - can't help but be in love with his cheeky chin & boy can lead a haka!!
#12 -  Ma'a Nonu - he's the play maker, what can I say? Already got a try too!
#8 - Kieran Read - you don't know how bummed I am that my sister and him didn't get together when they were at Opaheke Primary - what could have been?!

Gotta get back to the game.

Hope you all had good weekends

31 Day Challenge: Day 6 - VIOLET

Hey ladies,

Gonna keep it short (like my nails - bashed my index finger and a bit of the nail broke so I filed the lot down) and sweet.

So, VIOLET - I chose Zoya Mimi

Sunlight

Indoors - shows the pink duo chrome in the glitter flakes

Mimi is a medium purple jelly with lots of small irregular flecks of glitter - I think. The flecky pieces do a kind of gold/yellow - pink duochrome thing. It's purple and pretty - I like. Three coats for opacity, lovely formula, decent dry time.

Counting down to the Wales v France semi. Go the Welsh!!!!

31 Day Challenge: Day 5 - BLUE

Hey again,

This is China Glaze Blue Year's Eve from the Let It Snow Collection.

I finally managed to do my tips in the lace stamp from m57! It's about the 4th time I've tried this. And when I saw Cristina's manicure with this stamp I knew i had to try once more. Unfortunately it's awfully crooked but not too awful in the scheme of my nail art disasters.

I used Konad White Special Polish for the stamping. Here is Blue Year's Eve by itself:

This is two coats over Orly Armor, with a coat of SV on top. It has a really nice formula, no application issues, but it stains like most dark blues. BYE is a medium royal blue shimmer - it might even be very fine glitter particles. Either way it is very cool. Oddly enough, it doesn't not suit me, if you know what I mean. So I likey!

Do you? Are you going to pick some of the Let It Snow polishes?

Rugby World Cup Supporters Nail Art: Wallabies

I absolutely loathe to put this up (even more than I hated to decorate my nails in Australian insignia), but in the spirit of fairness I felt like I kind of had too. Plus I was already wearing the right colour so...

So I just added some yellow polish to yesterday's challenge nail in China Glaze Holly Day. I used my sunshine sunny side up Maybelline mini Colorama in Urban Lemon.
More or less I made a mess! Oh to have acrylic paints and a detail brush! So I just took the stars off the Australian flag for my middle finger & for the ring finger I tried to freehand the wallaby from the Wallabies' official logo.
I can't believe the stars were the failure of this! I tried using a dotting tool because I thought it'd be quicker than using the brush, but it just mangled them!!!
It might not look like it up close, but the wallaby was actually pretty good from afar (especially for a 1st attempt!). That big glob is meant to be the football in its hand, but I didn't paint the laces on and I couldn't make it the right shape so it just looks like a smudge!
The rest of my fingers I just french tipped - and not well haha.

The excuse I'm going to use for this being a piss poor effort is, that I NEVER support Australian sport - like all good New Zealanders. They just don't need the help, they beat us in almost everything. I will be cheering for the All Blacks come Sunday so I'll do my best to have an awesome looking mani for them!

Who will you be supporting this weekend?

31 Day Challenge: Day 4 - GREEN

Howdy,

I'm not going to lie, day 4 started a little early for me. After ruining my yellow yesterday by adding glitter I took it off early and whipped on this gorgeous forest green creme.

This is China Glaze Holly Day from the Let It Snow holiday collection 2011. They just arrived yesterday and I couldn't wait to try some - so seeing how green was the day 4 colour I slapped on this one.

It's a two coater green creme. Pictured is 2 coats of Orly Armor as a base, 2 coats of Holly Day and 1 coat of Seche Vite. I'd been wearing this for about a day when I took the photo and all I had was a tiny chip on the tip of my ring finger (looks like it whacked something sharp).
Very standard forest-y shade, which is perfect as a base for the glitters in the Let It Snow range. I didn't have a forest green either so I'm pretty happy.

The only issue I have with Holly Day is that it has a sort of thick, yet runny formula. I got some cuticle pooling so clean up was a must.

Aren't CG knocking it out of the park with their greens of late? I love Near Dark from the Haunting collection too.

Are you feeling the holiday love from Holly Day or do you think it's too boring for a holiday colour?
