The Hungry Asian Zera

Classes are DONE. Celebrate good times COME ON!
doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo!

I love the non-glitter polishes indie makers are coming up with! I wonder if we'll see the big wigs duping them in the near future?

Zera is a gorgeous green leaning concrete grey with subtle green shimmer. I think I ended up using 3 coats because I applied it a little unevenly. I'm sure 2 would have been enough though. I also remember not particularly liking the formula... It was a wee bit sticky? Sort of thick, but self levelling in the end.

This is the best grey polish I own (though China Glaze Immortal is currently sitting in my untrieds box)! It's sort of neutral so I can pull it off while still enjoying wearing a bluer grey :)

Grab Bag Blog Sale

Hey guys,

I'm purging my polish again. This time I'm doing grab bags, it's simpler and the 'surprise' factor makes it a little more exciting! All costs are in NZ Dollars, which is pretty much weaker than all other currencies so do check the exchange rate, you might be getting a serious bargain!

Click HERE or on the Blog Sale tab for more information

Thanks,

The Hungry Asian Twenty Eleven

The uni term is almost over hooray! I get a bit of a breather before I have a massive breakdown during exams and then I'm done!

Getting really homesick for Mum and my boys now. Got to skype tonight and Charlie was looking so pretty after his groom (and he was cuddling into Mum's neck) that I got teary!!!! Imagine what I'll be like if I have kids some day!!!!!!

Had a great afternoon when the courier van turned up. Sparkly sent me a humongous box filled with candy and polish. Most amazing blogger/swapper friend ever! So, so generous it is insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you don't follow Sparkly Vernis yet you SHOULD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got a gorgeous purple for y'all...

Twenty Eleven is a kick ass purple jelly with varying sizes of red hex glitter. It has a nice formula and all but I needed a good 3 coats to hide the VNL and the larger glitter does a slight reflective curl so you need thick top coat to tame it. That said, layered over a purple creme would solve the issue. I'm not wearing top coat in this photo FYI, the glitter doesn't stick out from your nail if you pop on some Seche Vite or Glitter Tamer.

Hungry Asian lacquer is available on Etsy for $9.25/15mL. You can get 5mL minis for $4.50 too.

NOTD: Whimsical Daisen

Technically this isn't my 'Nail of the Day', but it was on my nails Sunday-Monday, so close enough :)

Since I'm not too concerned with getting stuff swatched since my nails are looking fug, I've been giving myself some 'creative freedom' with my manis. For starters, I'm keeping them on for a minimum of 2 days. Yes, I know that sounds ridiculous, but for me, that's a giant step into the land of normalcy. Twenty-four hours used to be impressive!!! And I'm trying out the polishes that I haven't really had a chance to wear/couldn't be bothered figuring out what to layer it with.

For this mani I'm wearing China Glaze Sunset Sail, Nubar Whimsical Coral and Elevation Daisen.

Whimsical Coral is a gold-peach sheer shimmer. Over Sunset Sail it looked very golden. I'm not sure if it would be opaque worn alone, but the formula was a bit thick and very heavy on the shimmer so you might get there with enough coats. Here I used 2 coats over 3 coats of Sunset Sail (which has an ultra painful watery, uneven formula!!!).

I got Daisen during the September restock of Elevaion Polish and the copper and pink combination looked like it'd compliment Whimsical Coral perfectly!

Daisen has a clear base with fine iridescent glitter and copper, pale and medium pink circle glitter in varying sizes. Application isn't too bad, you may need to moved the circles around a little bit though so they don't overlap. The circles are fairly thick so you'll need a viscous top coat to smooth it.

Hare Polish Asteroid Turf

Who loves green?
And purple?
Together?!

Asteroid Turf is an odd green. It has strong yellow undertones, so may look a little swampy but I think it'll make a great Halloween polish!  There are lots of purple/fuchsia hexes in the jelly base, which makes me think of  witches and warts!!!!! Eeeeeeeeeewwwwwww!
Application was good, if a little thick. I needed 2 coats for full coverage. I think 1 coat layered over a green base would look fantastic too.
