Illamasqua Theatre of The Nameless Collection - Swatches & Review

Happy Hump Day,

I never did know why Wednesday was hump day; initially I figured it had something to do with bumping uglies, why on a Wednesday in particular I wasn't sure...

I had a massive bail at uni today; all alone, in front of lots of people I spread-eagled on some lino (facing in the doorway), scraping my knee, then I got up and said aloud (because for some reason I thought it'd make me seem less spastic), "That was embarrassing" and walked out the door without looking back. Maybe I should have laughed? No one teaches you how to behave in seriously embarrassing situations!

It was really funny and I could see that, but because I was all alone I just felt really shamed!!!!!!! Now every time anyone looks at me funny for the next couple of weeks I'm going to be paranoid that they saw me bail!!!!

Anything like that happen to you lately? Maybe you can regale me with your story so I feel less idiotic?!

I got the 4 Theatre of the Nameless 'rubber finish' polishes from My Nail Graffiti's blog sale in May and managed to get them swatched while I was on holiday. I apologise for the lack of clean up around my cuticles. I didn't have any acetone with me and my nail polish remover had too much glycerine in it to be good at clean up. It was just easier in the end to forgo pretty cuticles!

Faux Pas

Faux Pas is a medium grape purple with a semi-matte finish. The 'rubber' finish made my nails look like the polish was wet still. I really dig the look. It applied really easily and was pretty even and opaque after just 2 coats. There are a couple of bubble like bumps you can see, but I don't think that was the fault of Faux Pas. I applied the 2nd coat really thickly (the brush was a bit munted so I tried to compensate), so that probably caused the slight bubbling.

 Kink

Kink is the most perfect slightly too blue-toned to be forest green shade of green. I think it's kind of an Illamasqua Rampage in the rubber finish. This had the best application of the bunch. In the first picture you can really see the 'wet polish' look these rubbers have!! This is 2 coats.

Vice

Vice is the perfect berry pink with a semi-matte finish. I had the most trouble applying this one. Whether it was me or the polish, I found it a little uneven at 2 coats. The first time I applied it, I had to use 3 coats, but it got too dark, so I reapplied with a thicker 2nd coat (causing a few bumps) and got it to look ok.

Taint

Taint has a GREAT name (makes me think that it was supposed to look like a poo brown!) and is a yellow toned medium brown. It's smooth as chocolate baby! This applied just fine with 2 coats like all the rest. Looked great next to my skin too. I love these unconventional browns!

I'm so impressed with this collection. The colours are simple but they are executed flawlessly, so even if you don't like the semi-matte/rubber finish, they make great staple cremes with a layer of top coat! These came out last year and I drooled over them but could never afford them full price, so I'm beyond happy that I got them cheap!!

How do you feel about this collection?

  3. Ouch falling over as an adult makes you feel so stupid. I understand that hump day is coz its the middle of the working week so you just have to get over the hump and you're on the final two days I hope that makes sense.
Oh and back to the polish... I really like the look of the rubber finish, I'm not sure I have anything quite that finish in my collection. From the pics I never would have thought of poo seeing Taint, more like coffee or chocolate Mmmmm.

    1. hehe, I do know what the hump day is now!!!! Thanks for explaining it though!!! I think I've seen too many dirty nappies, that's why taint made me think of poo! But it does look a lot like melted milk chocolate!
