Picture Polish O'Hara - oh my!

Press Sample

Hahahahahahaha, I was trying to think of a way to start this post, cue Buster. He's mounted his giant lime green mink blanket and humping the heck out of it! So entertaining, and strangely cute at the same time. His blanket is the only thing he molests. I just love that he makes the blanket his bitch :)

Anywho... I'm a big Gone with the Wind fan; mainly because of Rhett, because Scarlet is a huge B word!! So O'Hara wins for the name alone.

piCture pOlish O'Hara

O'Hara is a perfect candy red with scattered silver holographic shards. I'm a huge fan of orange/coral toned reds and I adore PP's scattered holos so she's a no brainer! I applied two flawless coats for full coverage. My camera was picking up a more orange tone in the light box so I included a photo with flash to show of the truer base colour.

You can grab this and innumerable other lacquer gems from piCture pOlish online for AU$12 or any of their network resellers.

What is your favourite red lacquer?? Please share them with me in the comments section below!

Rhinestone Storm: a born pretty store review

Press Sample

I've got a really handy nail art tool to show you today.
It's a white wax pencil you use to pick up and place rhinestones, glitter, or other nail art decorations on your nails.

I am useless at applying rhinestones and loose glitter/glequins to my nails so these wax pencils are a must have when it comes to me and nail art. This took me a few months to actually use because I didn't have any way to sharpen the pencil except to use a kitchen knife; which I really didn't want to do :) Once I bought a pencil sharpener - there were absolutely none in the house even though me and mum have heaps of eyeliners and lip liners that need sharpening too - I could finally try it out!

Zoya Storm with green and blue rhinestones from Born Pretty Store

It was so easy to place the rhinestones! I just picked them up with the end of the pencil and placed each of them on to the wet polish. They stuck really well too.

You can buy these pencils in a pack of two for US$1.99 from Born Pretty Store with free worldwide shipping.
The next time you make a purchase from BPS feel free to use the NPA 10% discount code below

I love Zoya Storm too FYI. The holo shards sparkle so intensely in person! And it's very black so I think it'd make a great base for a galaxy mani, which I really ought to try out pronto.

Do any of you struggle to pick up and place nail decorations too? Do you think you'll give these pencils a go?

piCture pOlish Gene Doll Swatches & Review

Press Sample

Hi guys,

I forgot I had planned to post another piCture pOlish review yesterday. The internet was having a spaz last night anyway, so Saturday it is!

Gene doll is part of the 'glitter shades' line of PP's. I never thought much of it or wanted to buy it because it looked pretty plain for a glitter (therefore not worth the higher price tag). But when it was sent to me for review I was pleasantly surprised to find that it's another winner!

piCture pOlish Gene Doll over Cult Nails Let's Get Dirty

Gene Doll is a fuchsia purple glitter in a clear base. There are both small and micro hex glitters in this one. The blend of smaller glitters makes Gene Doll perfect for layering. I applied two seamless coats over Cult Nails Let's Get Dirty from the In the Garden Collection. The glitter isn't dense, so you have a lot of control over how much ends up on your nail.

piCture pOlish is available online at http://picturepolish.com.au/ and for local stockists, click on the network tab.

This Thursday the 23rd, through to Sunday the 26th, we will put the Hit the Road collection up for presale! Everyone who lays down their order during this time will be guaranteed stock and will have their order sent to them as soon as our stock comes in approximately two weeks later. Officially, we will launch the collection with any remaining stock on the week of the 24th of June.
What this means is that depending on where you live, you could have the Hit The Road collection as early as two weeks before the official launch. This will give our overseas stockists a bit of time to join in and also give all you bloggers out there the chance to get some cheeky blog posts in before the rest of the world gets their hands on them. Most importantly though, it gives all of our most loyal and attentive of fans the chance to get their polishes even earlier than usual with no chance of missing out due to sold out shades.
You can pick up any (or all) of our six incredible new shades 88mph, Generally Hazzardous, Hell on Wheels, Party Time! Excellent!, Something Strange and Turbo Boost until May 26th at www.pretty-serious.com. Then they'll disappear again until the end of June.

Don't forget if you want to use your Daphne's Birthday Party code in the pre-sale for a set of all six Hit The Road polishes, add them to cart individually to get your 20% off. The discount code only applies to individual nail polishes and the combo defaults to a 10% discount.

Zoya Chyna

Just time for a quick swatch today guys.

Zoya Chyna

Chyna is a deep red textured glitter finish polish that contains glowing orange/red glitter that resembles embers in a fire! I used two coats waiting for it to dry completely before adding the second coat. It dried fast enough for me and wore like iron!!!!!!! The finish is akin to a fine grit nail file or sandpaper. It makes for a good scratching aid, but didn't catch on my clothing or anything.

The more I wore Chyna matte. the more it grew on me. I can't believe I'm such a fan of the texture trend, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Oh well, whatcha gonna do?

Zoya Chyna with Aqua Daisy Glitter Gloss

I added 1-2 (can't recall which) coats of Glitter Gloss to smooth Chyna out to a glossy finish. Look at the larger red glitters, you don't really notice them when it's matte. I actually think of Essie Ruby Slippers when I look at these photos...

So Chyna is great glossy or matte. Winner, winner, chicken dinner!
