Cry Me A River... cry, cry, cry, cry... (and KB Shimmer Berry Patch)

Two big things happened today.
One amazing. One horrible.

Which do you want to hear about first?

The AMAZING one?

Well, the Sparkly Vernis and I are doing a swap and her package turned up super, duper speedy! My flatmate left this huge bubble mailer outside my door this morning. I thought it must be an Etsy order I'm waiting on, but lo and behold, Sparkly's package had flown all the way from Cali to Chch within a week!!!!!!

And she spoiled me rotten! I'm more rotten than ever before. It's like my birthday and Christmas and a wedding and an anniversary worth of awesomeness! So yeah, there are now stink waves radiating off me, jealous????

Dude surprised me with a CG Boundless Color flakie!!!! That sh**'s insane! I should really take a photo of all this stuff tomorrow, so you can see how crazy it is.

This is my first swap and I'm so stoked with the whole experience.

Now, for the bad news:
Drum roll please? Brrrrrrbrbrrrrrrbrrrrrrbrrrr (drum roll sounds?? use your imagination a little)...

I erased 4GB worth of swatches (and a few personal pics - mainly of my dog :) ) from my SD card while trying to transfer them onto my computer.

WTF?!  FML and other acronyms involving curse words.

I had about 20 brand new polishes swatched on that bad boy, that I spent the last week ruining my nails for!!! You have no idea how p-o'd I am.

So yeah, I'm crying myself a river upon which to row down. Maybe I'll widdle the row boat and oars out of the huge tree by my driveway that keeps scratching my car?

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Ok, I just looked over at my Sparkly stash, so there's a smile on my dial again :)

For surviving all that, I have for you - fresh off my nails:

Berry Patch is a milky semi-sheer pale pink with red, rose, fuchsia, holo silver and blue glitter.

I especially like the teeny tiny red glitter! And it really does look berry-licious! I applied 3 coats of BP and 1 coat of Aqua Daisy Glitter Gloss. The formula is a little thin, so the bigger blue glitters tend to drip off  the brush before you get it out of the neck of the bottle! I stopped wiping the excess off the brush in the end and used thicker coats to get a better glitter pay-off.

BP is a really pretty polish, fun and girly and I think I'll be reaching for it in Spring/Summer for sure!

I hope you have a great weekend. I might just be spending tomorrow with my head down swatching like the wind!!!!!

Lush Lacquer Party Rockin'

Happy Friday Ladies!!

To kick start the weekend (and the beginning of my 2 week uni break) I have a glitter bomb to put you in the PARTY mood!

Party Rockin' is a mix of fuchsia, gold, blue, purple and iridescent small glitters with blue bar glitter and medium and large blue hexagons, all in a blue tinted base. I'm wearing 1 coat over First Mate with 1 coat of SV.

I really dig PR. It is just packed with glitter and applies like a dream. I found it pretty easy to get the big hexes out and the glitters are really well suspended in the base. I didn't even feel the need to give the bottle a shake up before application.
The iridescent glitters knock the sparkle out of the park!

Are you ready to get your groove on now?

Lush Lacquer is available HERE for US$8.75 a bottle.

Layering with Dollish Polish Lipstick around your Dipstick & Nostalgic Lacquer Angela

I have 2 awesome indies for you today!

(I really need to get back to some mainstream brands, all the China Glaze Summer Neons and On Safari polishes are screaming out for swatching, but I just can't tear myself away from the indies right now!!!)

Dollish Polish Lipstick around your Dipstick

Lipstick around your Dipstick is a red glass fleck shimmer. The shimmer has a pink/gold duochrome going on so LAYD is a chameleon!!! It constantly looks different when the lighting changes; sometimes think it's pink, then almost a coral or a really orange toned red. It's freaking fabulous!!
It was overcast so my camera picked up the orange tones a lot more, but trust me, it looks pinker in person.
The formula is also way better than the other Dolly Does Polish Collection polishes I have. It dries quicker and there are no issues with bits of unmixed pigment floating around the bottle! I used 3 coats for this swatch, but 2 coats gives great coverage.
Hands down, my favourite of the collection.

Dolly just had a restock today, and there are still some of LAYD available (and the rest of the DDP collection), as well as Team Salvatore & 3 Best Friends That Anyone Ever Had.

I wanted to try out my Nostalgic Lacquers and I thought LAYD would be an awesome vase for Angela!

Angela is the shiz! It's got a sheer pinky red jelly base with a mix of red, orange and pink glitters. See why I thought it'd be perfect for LAYD?!
I put two coats over LAYD for this look. Application is ok, I didn't need to dab any glitters on or anything. The problem though, is the reflective curling the square glitters have going on. The small pink ones don't really cause any problems because with 1 layer of top coat they lay flat. The larger red squares though curl a bit more and if they don't sit on your nail curled side down, you need at least 2 layers of a thick top coat to stop them from poking through!!!

I really wish the squares didn't curl but that is the nature of those thicker glitters. I think every indie polish I own with red square glitter in it has the same issue.

I didn't want to take this mani off!  But it was a day of power swatching (when I finally had a free time window during the day!) so I will have to bring back this combo in the near future :)

Did you manage to get any DP in this restock? Hare Polish and Girly Bits had restocks today too so make sure you stop on by before they are all snatched up!

Sassy Lacquer Sea Glass

Hey there,

I've got yet another Sassy to show you today!

Sea Glass is another one from the 'Inspirational Blogger' collection. This one was developed with the help of Sara from My Life In Polish.

Sea Glass is a sheer seafoam jelly (it's a bit milky) with fine turquoise square and hex glitter. This is 4 coats. Surprisingly it doesn't get too thick or gluggy and still dries kind of fast so that makes up for the sheerness.
In person, SG is more vibrant, unfortunately we're in the midst of constant rain and overcast skies, so my camera really struggles to capture the true colour!
The formula is on the thinner side and is easy to apply.

I think SG would be a good glitter sammy topper too!

Do you like it?

Sassy Lacquer is available HERE and they just released a new collection.

Last year when I really got into polish, I hated the sheer look. Any VNL and I was a grumpy bum :) I bought just one OPI Texas 'sorbet' finish lacquers and was pretty annoyed that it required 4 coats to hide my tips.
Now, I freaking love sheers. There's so many layering possibilities and they are so nice as palate cleansers or for Spring and Summer :)

Who can't get on board with sheer/jelly nail polish? Why?

Sassy Lacquer Cap & Gown

Happy Monday Lacquerheads!

I trust your weekends were full of wonderfulness!
I've been a bit busy with essays and keeping warm for the last few days so the blog has been on the back burner.

In case you didn't see last week I did a guest post on Sparkly Vernis. You can click the photo of my manicure below to be go to that post!

Jelly sandwich with fish tail accent for Sparkly Vernis guest post

And on to another one of my new polishes from Sassy Lacquer!

Sassy Lacquer Cap & Gown

Isn't Cap & Gown freaking awesome?!
It's a royal blue crelly base - sort of too milky to be an actual jelly - with black matte glitter in small and medium hexagons and diamond shapes! It does sort of scream GRADUATION. Application was pretty good, the base has a lovely texture, but the glitter wanted to move with each brush stroke. I ended up using 2-3 coats and 2 layers of top coat. The bubble on my pinkie is from the INM Out the Door - it's thickening like SV does and I really need to add some thinner!

Next time I might just layer 1 coat over a blue base for an easier application. I can't get enough of the blue base though! Soooo yummy.

Sassy Lacquer is available HERE

I WOULD LOVE TO GT SOME FEEDBACK ON WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE OF ON NAIL POLISH ANON. IF YOU WOULD BE SO KIND AS TO LEAVE SOME SUGGESTIONS IN THE COMMENTS SECTION, I'LL LOVE YOU FOREVER?!
