Pros & Bronze Glitter Gradient

Hey ya'll,

just a short one tonight, I need my nun-ize.

I just went with adding some glitter to yesterday's mani - Butter London Rosie Lee & China Glaze Glam

P&B with RL & Glam gradient - sunshine

P&B with RL & Glam gradient - sunshine

P&B with RL & Glam gradient -shade

P&B with RL & Glam gradient -indoors, no flash

P&B with RL & Glam gradient -lamp

Close up - lamp
This was so hard to photograph! It was really sunny so lots of the colour got washed out no matter where I took photos. In real life it was much pinker - the glittery is a light rosey pink. I sponged on Rosie Lee from the base of my nails to 2/3s of the way up. Then I painted on Glam for some hex action.

So it may not look that great here, but in person it was like a little tropical sunset on my nails!

Expanding On Yesterday

So yesterday was the day of Etsy surfing...

I thought I'd had a look at almost every store that sold custom/franken polish. Then today Traci posted about some glitters she had just received from another Etsy store! All That Glitters. Here's the link to that post CLICK ME

I succumbed to lemming fever - the need to have what Traci was already in possession of!
I ordered 4 of Kirsten's creations:

Gold Rush
Plum & Plummer
Valentines Day Massacre
Metal Petal

Lord, please give me the strength to stop buying nail polish!!!!!

On an unrelated note; today I'm rocking OPI Pros & Bronze and I just can't stop staring at my nails!

Pros & Bronze - 3 coats - sunlight

Pros & Bronze - 3 coats - sunlight

Pros & Bronze - 3 coats - sunlight

It's a jack of all trades! In different lights it can look very foil-like, then chrome-like, then speckly, then shimmery. I just love it! The golden amber colour isn't exactly the greatest next to my skintone, but when the coppery pink starts to shine it looks perfect.

I didn't take any fresh photos, the ones above are some pretty average ones from when I swatched it last year. P & B is so much better in real life!

Thinking I'll keep it on my nails and try doing some nail art to it. I'm not good at coming up with creative ideas so if you know what I should do to spice P&B up leave me a comment PLEASE!!

Goodnight lacquer lovers!

Etsy Surfing

Hey guys,

So I've been spending my time today very wisely...

Surfing Etsy for nail polish makers! I was just trying to find Nostalgic Lacquer's store, which I know has another name and instead of searching a blog post for the link, I chose to do it the hard way!!! Sometimes I think that's the way of the female species...

I'm really glad I did though, because it turns out there are heaps of frankeners out there, selling their wares! Most of them don't seem to ship outside the United States, but I have messaged them to see if they are able to ship to me, and fingers crossed!

Here are a handful of the promising shops I scouted:

Zombified Nails  has quite a few duochrome chrome finish polishes with a dark and twisty sort of theme - I have my eye on Angels Lie

Windestine  has a range of beautiful glitters: fine holos, micro purple & a chunky blue and silver. There is also the most beautiful pink-beige with scattered holo shimmer/glitter called Natural Glow.

Paanduuh Polish only opened a week ago and has some beautiful holographic custom colours, colour shift & holo top coats available. I'm hoping to get my hands on all I can if she'll ship to NZ. I wish they would loosen the shipping restrictions, a little polish never hurt anyone!!!!

Lacey Lou's Nail Stockpile is unique amongst the franken world. The polish come in 0.5 ounce cosmetic 'palettes' - like the little cosmetic tubs creme eyeshadow and gel eyeliner come in. Each polish palette comes with 'Liquid Fusion' which is a base/top coat and functions as your applicator brush. I love how this concept is unlike any polish line I've come across; You can mix the colour to your heart's content & won't have wastage like when you get close to end of a bottle of polish but it's a battle to actually get it onto the brush. I have to ask, "Why don't they make polish brushes longer so they reach the bottom? Seems like a no brainer.

I've just made my first order for Lacey Lou!!!!!

I hope you check out these shops, I'm sure they will not disappoint.

And for those of you who come here to see pictures of polish...

Silver - Macro

Max Factor Max Effect in Silver is a beautiful bronze-brown and dark grey shimmer along the same lines as the OPI Warm & Fozzie, Pros & Bronze finishes. It's a shimmery base filled with pieces of chunky shimmer which I always think of as flaked glitter. It's very beautiful in natural lighting. When I first tried this it was at night and my bedroom lighting made it look like just another metallicy grey. I was pretty dissappointed because it had looked so special instore. Then I saw this on Polish Infatuated a few days ago and went, "WOW!" - turns out it the bottle does translate well on the nail! So that was yesterday's manicure :)

Keep 'em polished!

LA Splash - Sparkling Wave

Morning ladies,

Today is super sunny and hot, with a lovely sea breeze. Methinks the beach would be GLORIOUS!

To celebrate one of our first real summer days this year, I have Sparkling Wave:

Sparkling Wave - 4 coats - sunlight

Sparkling Wave - 4 coats - shade

Sparkling Wave - 4 coats - shade

SW is a deep pink and gold micro glitter, with slightly larger pieces of pink glitter set in a pink tinted base.  It sparkles so beautifully in the sun!

It's a bit of a bitch to apply though... Very thick and gritty formula so the coats looked pretty uneven and were a bit of a mish to get even. I put on 2 layers of top coat. 1 layer of Out The Door and then 1 of Seche Vite to get it all smooth and even looking.
Luckily it all dried fast!!!

*Sigh* so pretty!

Dollish Polish Mythical Creatures

Hello Ladies!

Anyone gutted the Patriots didn't pull off the win today?!
Ha, I can't be too gutted since I don't follow NFL but Tom Brady is a hotty...

Last night I painted my nails with Claire's Mood polish in Peaceful/Confident and then layered Dollish Polish Travellin' The Nile over it. They looked so gorgeous, alas I didn't get any pics before a broken nail forced me to abandon mani for a file down :(
Needless to say, teal & blue glitter on a teal base looks AMAZE!!

A shop assistant told me she loved my polish too! I love it when that happens!

To make up for not getting any photos of it here is the Mythical Creatures set Dolly makes.

Dragon's Breath - 3 coats - sunshine

Dragon's Breath - 3 coats - sunshine
Dragon's Breath is a gorgeous tangerine (Dolly describes it as a burnt orange/coral and TBH it probably isn't as bright as tangerine but I don't think it's coral) jelly filled with holo glitter. The glitter looks orange and gold when the light isn't hitting it - gorgeous. It's a bit unique methinks!! It needs 3 coats to get a good coverage and the formula is great.

Mermaid Scales - 3 coats - overcast

Mermaid Scales - 3 coats - shade

Mermaid Scales - 3 coats - shade

Mermaid Scales is a deep ocean teal tinted base containing cyan, blue and green glitter as well as medium iridescent hexagon glitters. Truly a beauty. And it does remind me of a mermaid's tail!!! At 3 coats the coverage is perfect. Applies nicely, no problems with getting the hex onto the nail. Makes me want to watch The Little Mermaid again! Under the sea, under the sea, darling it's  better, down where it's wetter, take it from me!

Pegasus Wings - 2 coats - shade

Pegasus Wings - 2 coats over I heart Jake Ryan - sunshine

Pegasus Wings - 2 coats over I heart Jake Ryan - shade

Pegasus Wings is a lavender glitter in a clear base. The small and medium hex is also holographic! It's not really dense enough to be worn alone but layered it looks beautiful! I'm wearing it over Dolly's I <3 Jake Ryan - a pale lilac? shimmer. Nice formula, no problem with placing the hexes.

Pixie Dust - 1 coat over OPI Black Onyx - overcast

Pixie Dust - 1 coat over OPI Black Onyx -shade
Pixie Dust is a shimmery iridescent glitter colour shift top coat. I shifts from blurple (violet/indigo colour) to teal/cyan and pink. I love, love, love the glitter because it glows a different colour to the colour shift, making it even more exciting and pretty! I really does feel a bit like fairy magic.

Here it is layered over a few other bases:

Pixie Dust - 1 coat over purple shimmer - shade

Here I'm wearing it over a Depend purple shimmer - the number of which I do not know because my polishes are packed up in boxes ready for my move next week :( - and it pretty much just looks cyan with iridescent glitter.

Pixie Dust - 1 coat over Orly Royal Navy - shade

Pixie Dust - 1 coat over Orly Royal Navy -sunshine

Pixie Dust - 1 coat over Orly Royal Navy - overcast

Over Orly Royal Navy it is so so so so so gorgeous. This combo was Dolly's idea so she's basically a genius! In the sunlight and overcast pics you can see it's shifting from cyan to pink - wowza!

Mythical Creatures is sold as a set of 4 in either 5mL or 15mL bottles for $16/$32 respectively.
Head over to the Dollish Polish store on Etsy NOW!

Dolly has just released these brand new polishes too - can't wait for them to arrive and let the swatching begin!!!!

I'm absolutely gagging for Zombie Flesh! I adore these fugly shades, it really looks like rotting flesh, YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gotta love me some Vampire Diaries and multi-coloured chunky glitter too!!! Jean-Claude is a beautiful sapphire blue glitter mmmmmmmm.

She just gets better and better!
