Wilkommen my deutsche friends!

Wahoo reader/viewership!
I was being really vain so I checked if anyone had been to my blog and it turns out someone in Deutschland has been on. Thank you! I took German all through school and though I'm useless at it, it did put a smile on my dial! So vielen Dank!

OPI Texas Spring/Summer Collection 2011

I thought I'd better get these swatches up before the Texas polishes disappear!!!!
I have half of the collection: Suzi Loves Cowboys, Don't Mess with OPI, It's Totally Fort Worth It, Austin-tatious Turquoise and Do You Think I'm Tex-y? and San Tan-tonio. Not too shabby, right?!

So without further ado here are the swatches, I'll talk about the rest of the collection at the end of the post.

Austin-tatious Turquoise is quite similar to Catch me in your net but less intense, less blue. Not turquoise though the shimmer kind of is. It is more of what I would call a teal/sea green type colour. Its very pretty but ultra thin and sheer. This might have been 4 coats and there was definite VNL - but my nails were down to 1mm of white tip because they started breaking :(, so you don't really notice it in the pics. Anyway if yo have the luxury of spending hours applying more than 4 coats its the polish for you.

Do you think I'm Tex-y? Like the name, hate the use of a dash! Just call it texy damn it, how dumb are the people who buy OPI that they wouldn't get it was a pun?! Anyway enough of my irrational rant. This colour is one of the "sorbet like" polishes which is OPI code for a Jelly but they wanted to sound like it was a brand new kind of polish so whatever. Its a pretty jelly pink that leans a bit purple. I've read somewhere that it is like the jelly version of Miami Beet, but I think its a bit more pink than beetroot. Very pretty and says summer to me. I did 4 coats here, you can't eliminate the VNL so better off not trying, remember the more layers you use the longer it takes to dry and harden = lots of dents for my nails!!!

Don't mess with OPI is a medium green- with yellow undertones - creme. I think 2 coats is enough but I managed to do an awful job of my 1st layer so needed 3 to fix the streakiness I caused. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! My first green polish too so I feel a deep connection to it haha. Suits my skin tone too because of the yellowness.

Suzi Loves Cowboys is a dark brown creme that doesn't look black like so many others do. It's not chocolate-like  in my opinion because it lacks that reddish warmth I associate with chocolate tones. The formula was a bit odd for a creme, kind of watery so it took 3 coats but very nice, I would wear it to work without worrying about it being too dark in any case.

San Tan-tonio is a tan! It also leans too yellowy to be that flattering though sadly. Perhaps on the right person but it just seems kind of dirty to me. Don't get me wrong I'd still wear it because I like weird unflattering colours, but my sister put it on and declared her disgust at what it did for her.  She took it off almost straight away :( The flash makes it look pinker than in real life.  Application wise it was fine though, 2 coats covered perfectly.

It's totally fort worth it!  is a sheer pale grey packed with  pink shimmer but in a subtle way that hasn't photographed very well. I did 3 coats for an almost opaque nail. On pale sheers I don't mind a little VNL, it looks like they are meant to be that way, you know? Pretty and a bit out of the ordinary.

NOTD: OPI Sparkle-icious + LaRosa Crackle White

I did this mani last night while a wee bit silly on sleeping pills, just thought it'd be fun, I love playing with crackles but I'm not so good at keeping them on my nail for long, it might just be my colour combinations but this one is fun I think. Not work appropriate but good for summertime!!!

So this is 3 coats of Sparkle-liscious, a very thick coat of Seche Vite and 1 layer of LaRosa ( you can see some layers were thicker than others! The index is far thinner than the ring finger - the thinner the more cracked), and to top it off another layer of seche vite. FYI Glitters give an uneven surface and to get the crackle to work right it has to be applied to an smooth surface.

So what do you think? BTW in case you are unaware you can click on the photo to expand it, I recommend because my camera isn't at all special so seeing them bigger only helps!!!

China Glaze Island Escape Collection for Summer 2011

China Glaze released this a few months ago for US Summer. The colours are fairly standard summer brights but they have 4 with really fun shimmery, glass fleck finishes and two that are almost neon cremes - so PERFECT for summer beach mani and pedis.

I bought 3 of the 6: 108 degrees, senorita bonita (because I thought I'd end up wearing these two more often) and electric pineapple because it looked so interesting. The first two had really nice formulas and application was very easy but they are pretty sheer so at 3 coats I still had VNL - not that big of a deal from a distance but it bugs me still. The only VNL I can handle is when I'm wearing a pale/nude colour to begin with. Electric applied like most yellow creme polishes - difficulty! A wee bit gloopy, had trouble getting it even, after 3 coats though I managed to have only a bit of cuticle drag left and I was swatching in a hurry so if I'd been patient i'm sure it would have been perfect. They're all very fun colours though, I just wish I had gotten papaya punch too because the swatches I've seen of it since look awesome.

108 degrees - indoor shot, it is a medium/dark pink jelly like glass fleck glitter, fantastic, hot, hot, hot! Definitely says summer to me. I thought it was a bit close to CG Ahoy! at first, but when I compared the bottles Ahoy! leans red and the shimmer/glitter is different
flash - I couldn't catch the gorgeousness of this colour with my camera so you'll just have to trust me that it is more impressive in person
I was a bit bored by the time I swatched 108 and it was the last one I had to do before bed so I tried using silver glitter (LA Colors Color Craze Sparkling Diamonds - awesome small and large silver glitter pieces in clear base) as an accent on the ring finger and then put Essie Matte About You top coat on. I quite like the effect!

Senorita Bonita Is a favourite because I don't have any purple polishes like it. Similar finish to 108, just gorgeous!

Electric Pineapple is an almost neon yellow chartreuse green creme. Very unique, looks quite hideous on me but I think I'll be wearing it anyway!!! Can't wait til next summer I tell ya!  Very hard to capture the true colour again, this makes it look too much like OPI Fiercly Fiona but thats duller and pulls more yellow. Anyway ultra fun.

So what do you think? Will you be rushing out to get them? Cha cha cha and blue iguana do look gorgeous too, I just couldn't justify yet another blue or green when I knew I wouldn't be wearing them for months. I'll prob get my hands on the rest eventually though so don't worry... my sickness still has its hold on me

OPI Shrek Collection Swatches

Yes these are only available online now probably, since they were limited addiction for last year's Shrek 4 - which I saw in 3D, average movie but chubby puss in boots was so gorgeous so WORTH IT!). But I only just had them arrive last week thanks to my favourite ebay shop Top Nail Shop (seller beautyzone2007) - take note New Zealanders: shipments always arrive within a week and a half of purchase and pretty fair prices, I can get 8 polishes for under US$50- mega cheap right now with the low USD!!!

Anyway back to the polish! Here is Who the Shrek are you?

I dig this dirty ogre green creme - it is seriously the same colour as shrek. Formula is a bit average, kind of thick and uneven, needed 3 coats - i think i'll try to add thinner and see if that helps. Love the colour though unique to me - there are some other brands that have dupes apparently Misa envy? i think.

What's with the Cattitude?

Pretty sky blue pastel creme - has the same application issues but its cute. I think it would suit cool skin tones better than me but fun for spring and summer.

And lastly, Rumple's Wiggin'

Very pastel purple, very cute (god my hands need a tan!) again more suited to cool skin tones but I like, very cute, darker than China glaze light as air but lighter than OPI done out in deco. Love the name!!!!!

hope you enjoy
